Bakong Application for traveller to pay by QR Code

The Bakong Tourists app, which can also be used in Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, has made it easier for visitors from other countries to make payments in Cambodia.

In an effort to let foreign visitors make payments while visiting the Kingdom, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has introduced Bakong Tourists, which may also be used in other Bakong partner countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos.

At the August 19 soft launch of the Bakong Tourists app, NBC Governor Chea Serey stated that NBC's top priority is to advance the payment system because the company wants to create a cutting-edge, safe, and effective payment infrastructure that will boost both local and regional economic activity.

"By facilitating digital payment for goods and services for foreign visitors to Cambodia, the Bakong Tourists establishment hopes to strengthen the country's digital payment system and support the country's tourism industry," the spokeswoman stated.

Travelers can download the app, register with an email address, and top off their account through business partners for foreign visitors, according to Serey.
