Cambodia Launches New Digital v‑Pass System
Cambodia Launches New Digital v‑Pass System

The General Department of Immigration (GDI) of Cambodia is set to launch a new digital Visitor Pass (v-Pass) system starting July 1, 2025, marking a significant upgrade to the country’s immigration process. This modern digital system aims to enhance the entry and departure experience for foreign tourists.

What is the v-Pass?

Replacing the traditional passport stamps and QR code stickers, the v-Pass is a fully digital visitor authorization issued immediately after immigration clearance. Visitors will receive their v-Pass linked to their e-Arrival card and email, accessible via the official e-Arrival app, which can be downloaded from Arrival.gov.kh.

How does it work?

- On Arrival: Travelers present their passport at immigration and receive the digital v-Pass — no physical stamp is necessary.

- During the Stay: Authorities may request to see the v-Pass, which visitors can show either on their mobile device or as a printed copy. Visitors must comply with the authorized stay duration shown on their v-Pass.

- On Departure: Visitors present their passport again; the system records their exit electronically without issuing an exit stamp.

Benefits of the Digital v-Pass

The introduction of the v-Pass system aligns Cambodia with international digital immigration standards. It is designed to:

- Streamline border entry and exit procedures

- Enhance visitor safety and tracking

- Provide a smoother and faster travel experience
